Ports
of call:
Fort Lauderdale, Half Moon Cay-Bahamas, Key West (2
nights!), Progresso-Mexico and back to Fort
Lauderdale.
Overview:
We
begin this great cruise in Ft. Lauderdale, a
great port where you can come early to begin unwinding
before your cruise. Get tickets to take in the King
Tut exhibit, or just relax at one of the many
cafes or bars welcoming gay and lesbian visitors to
this popular destination.
Our
first stop on the cruise is the beautiful, tropical
island of Half Moon Cay, Holland America's
very own private island in the Bahamas, where
each year they add more things for us to do. Go
horseback riding, snorkeling, or take in one of other
many activities, but be sure to save time to enjoy the
picture-perfect, idyllic beach. On Fat Tuesday
we stop in Key West for their annual Mardi
Gras celebration, made even more exciting
by our visit. All aboard isn’t until early morning
the next day when we will continue the party as we
escape to the warmth of the Mexican Sun.
As we recover from the
festivities in Key West, the Westerdam sets
sail for Progresso, Mexico. Unique excursions
await you in this historic but secluded region.
We’ll be the first gay and lesbian cruise ship
visitors to Merida, a spectacular colonial city
just 20 minutes from Progresso. Nearby we can explore
the ancient ruins at Uxmal. Take 4x4 Jeep tours
of the rugged terrain, hacienda tours or kick back on
the beach and enjoy the tropical sun and surf.
This
cruise also offers lots of time at sea. And anyone who
knows RSVP knows that days at sea are some of
the most spectacular parts of any RSVP cruise.
We’ll have an over-the-top Mardi Gras tea dance,
tropical tea dance and special theme and pool
parties and entertainment fit for this Mardi Gras
extravaganza. Our DJs will be many
including our resident DJ Robbie Leslie along
with Wendy Hunt, Rich B of London, Circuit Mom, our
VJ Tom Yaz and more.
