FULL ITINERARY:

DAY ONE.   ARRIVAL PAMPLONE. WELCOME TO NAVARRA.  Join us in historic Pamplona, famous for the running of the bulls. Some of the highlights are the Gothic and Neo-Classical cathedrals, Diocesan Museum, and Museo de Navarra. We begin by exploring this fascinating town on a walk with a guide. That evening we’ll gather in the hotel for a drink before a dinner that features some regional cuisine.

DAY TWO.   BIKING TO OLITE.  Leaving Pamplona along the Camino de Santiago, we bike through historic pilgrimage towns like Puente de Reina and Tafalla on our way to Olite, wine capital of the Navarra. We pass over a humpback bridge spanning the Rio Arga and Monte Christobal. Along the route are Roman ruins, historic churches, and former royal castles. Slow down and soak in the history, scenery, and culture of this unique region of Spain.

The bike tour is fully supported with a van to carry luggage, bikes, and passengers. The tour is designed so you can do as much or as little biking as you’d like. So you can do an ambitious route or take the leisurely alternative. It’s your vacation at your pace.

DAY THREE.   BIKING NEAR OLITE.  Enjoy an exciting ride through a nature preserve, en route to the lovely hill town of Ujuč. This day’s route has some hills that you can climb by bicycle or have the van bring you to the top. From the summits, you overlook the Ribera region. This evening we have a chance to taste the prestigious D.O. Navarra wines at the Ochoa winery.

DAY FOUR.   CALAHORRA.  After a short transfer to the Rioja region, we’ll cycle along the cliffs overlooking the breathtaking Cidacos valley. Passing olive groves and almond trees, wind through meadows and fields dotted with sheep as we cycle on a paved railroad bed to the ancient town of Calahorra. Along the way, see dinosaur footprints, and perhaps visit the health spa in Arnedillo.

DAY FIVE.   HARO.  We start in Fuenmayor and follow scenic landscapes through famous wine towns to the very heart of the Rioja. Stop in picturesque Laguardia to visit a bodega and stroll on the Paseo del Collado beside the medieval town walls. In Haro, the market town for Rioja Alta wines, explore the lively horseshoe-shaped old quarter and the neoclassical town hall.

DAY SIX.   HARO.  Opt for a ride in the countryside or spend part of the day visiting Haro’s wine museum, opulent mansions, and churches. Our cycling route stop at the historic pilgrimage town of Santo Domingo de la Calzada, and delightful Ezcaray, on the banks of the Rio Oja river. Tonight, we’ll gather for a colorful farewell fiesta and banquet.

DAY SEVEN.   DEPARTURE.  In the late morning, you can be dropped off at the Mirando de Ebro train station or Victoria airport. You can extend your trip with a weekend in Madrid or Barcelona. Adios!
