Telluride Gay Ski Week

February 22-28, 2010

In the heart of the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado, the Victorian-era town of Telluride rests at the bottom of a valley at 8,750 feet. The ski lifts and gondola bring skiers from the center of town to the center of the ski resort and Mountain Village at 9,500 feet. Surrounded by 14,000 foot peaks, the ski area boasts over 3,500 vertical feet, over 80 runs for all abilities, and a high-speed lift system.

During Telluride Gay Ski Week, our homebase is the highly rated, four-star, Hotel Telluride in the center of town. Throughout the week events occur on and off the mountain- social mixers, wine tastings, concerts, dinners, après-ski, charity benefits, and dance parties. You’ll meet some of the locals as well as gay skiers/snowboarders from around the country. OutWest creates a smaller group within the context of the gay ski week. So make it easy on yourself and don’t go alone. Make one call, join our group, and let us do all the work. Relax; you’re on vacation!

Highlights:
  • Skiing Telluride's 3,500 vertical feet- top to bottom
  • Meeting other gay skiers and snowboarders at apres-ski
  • Relaxing in the hot tub at the four-star Hotel Telluride
  • Indulging in great food at some of Telluride's many eating establishments

Rusty Clark - Ski Week Host
Rusty is a native Montanan. He grew up in the town of Roscoe, just 19 miles from Red Lodge, MT. Rusty is an avid outdoorsman and especially loves the powder!!

Accommodations: The Hotel Telluride

ARRIVAL.  From the Telluride airport, the town is a short ten-minute drive. You can also fly to Montrose, Colorado which has more flights and a shuttle service that takes an hour and fifteen minutes. The first evening, OutWest hosts a cocktail reception with brief orientation. Welcome to Telluride!
Accommodations: The Hotel Telluride

THE HOTEL.  The Hotel Telluride is located a half block off the Main Street in the center of town. The gondola is five blocks away and the hotel provides a free shuttle service. The Hotel Telluride is the only hotel in Telluride listed two consecutive years on Conde Nast Traveler's Gold List. In 2006, the hotel made the top 100 hotels in Continental US and Canada for Travel & Leisure's World's Best Places to Stay.

Each of The Hotel Telluride's 59 beautifully appointed guest rooms feature a balcony or patio with sweeping views of the 14,000 peaks of the San Juan Mountains. Each rooms has custom furnishings, refrigerator, toaster oven-microwave, plush soft seating, CD player/clock-radio, humidifier, and Aveda bath amenities. The property has a work out room, steam room, hot tubs, and free town shuttle service. At night, surround yourself in natural feather bedding, cozy down comforter, 250 thread count embroidered sheets, and lots of pillows.

THE SKI AND SNOWBOARD TERRAIN.  The OutWest package includes a four-day lift ticket. Whatever your ski ability or interest, Telluride has the terrain for you. From the perfectly groomed intermediate runs to challenging bowls with steeps and trees, you’ll find something that is right for you.

AFTERNOON APRES-SKI AND EVENING PARTIES.  If you’re out and about during the afternoon or finishing up your day on the slopes, meet other gay skiers at après-ski events that are held at various venues in the area. Some evenings feature a dance party that goes late into the morning. Other evenings feature dinners, fundraisers, shopping, galleries, and concerts.

GROUP DINNERS.  As part of the OutWest package, we’ll have three group dinners. These are great times to get to know the other people who are part of the OutWest group. The second and last nights are more upscale dining, but casual dress.

FIT IN RIGHT AWAY. INSTANT CAMARADERIE.  OutWest creates a smaller group within the larger group context. We create a friendly, fun environment that makes it easy to meet other people. In short, the camaraderie of the group makes a fun week even more fun. There will be other people in the group who ski or snowboard at your level, who will want to go to the parties or wake up early for first tracks. Don’t go to Telluride alone; join the OutWest gang!

OUTWEST TRIP LEADERSHIP.  Our guides are there to take care of the details. We've figured out the best restaurants, the best runs, and the best places to go. Our guides also serve as your quasi concierge. Perhaps the airlines have lost your bag or you forgot a prescription medicine; we're there to help make your travel experience easy.

EASY TO BOOK.  Because we put together all the components of the week, OutWest guests arrive with nothing to think about except having a good time.
