Blanketed in winter white, sporting
the deep emerald that gave the Green Mountains and
Vermont their names, or dazzling in fiery fall colors, the
7 mountains of Killington are a natural wonder in every season.
It's one of the largest ski areas in the world, boasting
95 miles of skiing and snowboarding terrain, which also welcomes
mountain bikers and hikers when the snows have melted. The famous
Appalachian and Long Trails traverse these mountains, as do many
miles of the Vermont snowmobile and cross-country ski trail
system. This spectacular mountain setting is also home to 2
PGA golf courses, with 12 more courses nearby.
Killington is known as the "Heart
of Vermont" not just for its own appeal, but for its
ideal location in the center of the state, which makes it the
perfect base for all of your Vermont adventures. Stay put or go
exploring, either way you'll encounter gorgeous scenery,
outdoor adventure, quaint New England towns, peaceful farmland,
country stores, and antique shops. It's just a 4½ hour
drive from New York City, and can also be reached by AmTrak,
which runs between Grand Central Station and nearby Rutland.
