Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora comprise a fabulous getaway to the other side of the world. After starting out in the land of Paul Gauguin on the island of Tahiti, we move to Moorea for three nights. Then we change pace again with two glorious days in Bora Bora. On both Moorea and Bora Bora, we have the unique pleasure of sleeping in over-water bungalows, with the lagoon right outside the front door (and every other door and window!). An optional extension to Easter Island for a three-day visit to view the huge, mysterious stone figures and tour this remote civilization is available.

Travelling Alone?
So are most of the people who travel with us. You do not need to pay extra to travel by yourself. Prices are per-person, and the single supplement applies only if you'd like a room by yourself.

1: To Tahiti

Today is departure day. Most tour members will assemble at Los Angeles International Airport for a non-stop Air Tahiti Nui flight to Papeete, Tahiti, the heart of French Polynesia, and one of the most distant departments of France.

2-3: Tahiti Treats
--

Upon our early morning arrival, we will be welcomed with traditional flower leis, then proceed to the lovely Sheraton Hotel Tahiti and our lagoon view rooms. Following lunch at the hotel, we will tour the historic port city of Papeete and its vibrant waterfront. A leisurely evening with Happy Hour and Welcome Dinner will follow. On day three, we'll enjoy a full-day Tahiti Circle Island tour, including visits to: an ancient stone temple, the Mara'e fern grotto, the Arahoho blowhole,and the Museum Gauguin including a luncheon at Restaurant Gauguin. We return to the hotel for dinner and relaxation.

 

 

 

 

4-6: Moorea, Island of Beauty

On day four, we fly from Papeete to the nearby island of Moorea, then drive around beautiful Cook's Bay to our bungalows at the Sheraton Resort Moorea. In the evening, we attend a Polynesian dinner and watch a cultural show with over 60 performers at the Tiki Village Theater.

 

The following day, we'll enjoy a covered boat ride into beautiful Moorea Lagoon where we can swim, snorkel and relax in the splendor of this tropical setting. Enjoy a unique picnic lunch with barbecue and drinks, while watching a display of Polynesian arts and crafts. We return to the hotel for dinner.

The following morning we mtake the Circle Island tour of Moorea. We will explore the human side of this French and Polynesian island with visits to the Catholic Church, a pineapple plantation and juice factory, and a tasting at a distillery. Then a wonderful vista of the twin bays of Opunohu and Paopao awaits us at The Belvedere. The afternoon will be free to relax, and perhaps snorkel to visit your friends in earby bungalows!

7-8: Bora Bora & More!
--

After a short mid-morning flight to the storied island of Bora Bora we check into our bungalows at our beachside resort. In the afternoon you can explore this unique setting on your own and perhaps take photographs of this mountainous island. Scuba divers may also want to use their free time while here to explore the beautiful ocean waters.

 

In the morning relax or choose from three OPTIONAL tours (if available). OPTIONAL TOUR 1: SHARKS and STINGRAYS SNORKELING TOUR: take a boat to the reef to enjoy this marine paradise and to observe the feeding habits of the native sharks. Snorkeling equipment is available for those who would like to swim with stingrays, and get a close-up view of the underwater environment. (3.5 hours)

OPTIONAL TOUR 2: DIVING: Explore the deep waters just outside Bora Bora's lagoon. (3 hours)

OPTIONAL TOUR 3: GLASS-BOTTOM BOAT TOUR: For those who prefer to stay in the boat, discover the beauty of Bora Bora waters, including exotic fish, colorful coral and the dazzling vista of flora and fauna that make this one of the most stunning islands in the Pacific. (2.5 hours)

In the afternoon, we tour the island together in 4-wheel-drive vehicles. Trekking the rutted old military tracks up the slopes, we pass World War II gun emplacements and enjoy panoramic vistas of the gorgeous turquoise lagoon and Bora Bora's sister islands of Huahine, Raiatea and Taha'a.

 

 

 

8: Departure Day or Easter Island

After a free morning to explore and relax in Bora Bora, we fly to Papeete. Lunch and dinner are at the Sheraton Hotel Tahiti. We’ll have a chance to rest up in our day rooms before our late evening departure to the airport. Those not joining the Extension to Easter Island depart from Papeete on Air Tahiti Nui on Wednesday, April 12, arriving in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 13, in time for same-day connections to most cities in North America.
