There's always something to see and do in Amsterdam, Holland's capital city, and 2006 is no exception. This year, join the festivities as Amsterdam hosts Rembrandt's 400th birthday celebration. The Rembrandt 400 is the perfect occasion to highlight Holland's greatest 17th century painter. Experience first hand the incredible paintings and sketches of Rembrandt and other Dutch artists at the Rijksmuseum. Shop for the perfect souvenir in the Albert Cuyp market, the biggest in Amsterdam, then enjoy a drink in one of "brown cafés" around the Leidseplein.

Depart the USA for your overnight flight to Amsterdam

Day 2 Monday - D
Arrive Amsterdam
Arrive in Amsterdam and make your way to your hotel. After checking in to your hotel, enjoy a walking tour with your escort to get you oriented to the city. This evening, enjoy a welcome reception cocktail party on board a private canal boat. See Amsterdam from the waterside, which is, in fact, the best way to see it! Afterward, dinner is in a local Dutch restaurant, which serves typical Dutch food.

Day 3 Tuesday - B
Amsterdam/Van Gogh Museum/Rembrandt Exhibit
Today is Rembrandt Day! After breakfast, enjoy a lecture by an expert on Rembrandt. Continue with your escort to the Van Gogh Museum for the Rembrandt & Caravaggio Exhibition, followed by a visit to the Rijksmuseum. You have time for lunch on you own at the museum. This afternoon at the museum. This afternoon, visit the Rembrandt House Museum. The rest of the day and evening are yours to relax and explore more of the city on your own.

Day 4 Wednesday - B,D
Amsterdam/Walking tour of city/Dinner in a private home
This morning, enjoy a walking tour that includes "five centuries of architecture and garden design in Amsterdam," guided by professional garden designer and art historian. Start off in a beautiful 17th-century canal house with an introduction to the history of Amsterdam and its canals, followed by an exploration of the house, with its magnificent neo-Louis XVI ballroom, dining room, 18th-century garden room and kitchen. You also visit the formal French garden at the back of the house to see its "parterres de broderie" (embroidered parterres) and statues. Learn about all the different architectural and interior styles of Amsterdam canal houses- -the gable types and garden styles. Afterward, visit a selection of 18th to 20th-century canal houses, some with historically important interiors. Included in each tour are visits to a variety of gardens and coach houses in "the Golden Bend," the most exclusive part of the Herengracht. This evening, enjoy a very special dinner at the home of Mrs. Pat Van Den Wall Bake-Thompson at the Herengracht. She invites small special groups to her home for a home-cooked, four-course dinner served in her dining rooms, which overlook her garden.

Day 5 Thursday - B,D
To Bruges
After an early breakfast, enjoy a visit to the Aalsmeer flower auction. This is the world's largest flower auction, where flowers and plants are auctioned and then packaged for distribution to all corners of the world. From here you depart for Bruges, the Pearl of Flanders, with a stop in Delft along the way. Walk through one of the most beautiful town-squares in Holland, with the town hall on one side and the "New Church" on the other. All members of the Royal family are buried in the New Church. Delft is also the city famous for Delft's Blue Porcelain. Enjoy a visit to the popular Delft Blue Pottery factory for an exhibition tour, where you attend a workshop to make and decorate your own Delftware tile- -a nice memento to take home. Arrive into Bruges in the mid-afternoon and check into your hotel. This afternoon, take a walking tour with a local guide. The town of Bruges seems straight out of the Middle Ages, with its beautiful decorated houses, old guildhalls and churches. Walk through the picturesque town center to explore the Beguinage, Our Lady Church and the Lake of Love. At a lace shop, learn how the famous lace of Bruges has been made over the many centuries. You have time to browse the lace and chocolate shops in the area. Enjoy a local pub dinner this evening.

Day 6 Friday - B
Bruges sightseeing/Chocolate making/To the Hague
After breakfast, enjoy a chocolate treat! During an exciting hands-on workshop, learn how to "play" with the delicious Belgium chocolate. After this hard work, visit one of the main museums of Bruges- -your choice of either the Gruuthuse Museum or the Groeninge Museum. The Gruuthuse Museum is housed in a 15th-century brick mansion, which used to be a trading place. Today it is the Museum of Decorative Arts. Enjoy the beautiful fireplaces, ceilings, tapestries, musical instruments, furniture and weapons housed here to preserve the rich past of Bruges. Alternatively, you could visit the Groeninge Museum, which is the best-known museum in Bruges. It is famous for its amazing masterpieces of Flemish primitives, all from the so-called "Bruges School." Enjoy a few hours on your own, before departing for the royal city of the Hague.

Day 7 Saturday - B
The Hague/Keukenhof Exhibition/ De Wittenburg Castle visit
After breakfast, visit the Keukenhof Exhibition. This world-renowned garden is a 70-acre estate, where six million bulbs are planted annually by local growers. Keukenhof is the world's largest exhibition of blooming tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. Stroll through the gardens, view the plantings in the three exhibition halls and walk up the windmill for a look at the brilliant colors in the nearby bulb-fields. At the Keukenhof, experience a unique hands-on "workshop, where an expert will teach you how to make flower arrangements or table pieces. Of course, you may take your "masterpiece" with you. Return to The Hague for a tour that includes the houses of Parliament. The Innercourt, Queen Beatrix's working palace, Queen Beatrix's House, Carnegie's Peace Palace and the Embassy district. You have time on your own this afternoon to explore this fascinating town and to browse the upscale shops. Join your group for your farewell dinner in De Wittenburg Castle.

Day 8 Sunday - B
Conclude Amsterdam Airport
After breakfast, transfer to the Amsterdam airport for your return flight home.
