SPECIAL EVENTS:

GAY SKI WEEK 2009
FIRE & ICE SCHEDULE

Aspen Gay Ski Week 2009 is chock a block with events again this year!  It’s our 32nd year and we’re shaking it up and taking the events to a new level.  See calendar for locations and phone numbers.

Sunday

Opening Reception
"First Chance"  For the early birds of ski week—please join us for an opening cocktail reception - location (TBA).  It’s a chance to see the others who are here for the whole week and your first chance to find your buddy or bud-dette for the week.

Monday

"Pamper" Aspen Club and Spa day
The Aspen Club and Spa will be hosting us for the day, so pump up your cardio, take a class or a swim or pamper yourself with a massage or other offering at Aspen’s premier spa and gym.  Monday is "Aspen Club Day" and we have discounts and special offers for you all week long.  Tell them you’re with GSW to check in and book all services.  "We have everything you need for everything you do!"  The Aspen Club offers highly advanced fitness equipment, the world-renown SpaAspen™ and the internationally recognized Sports Medicine Institute, a healing center that combines time-honored knowledge with contemporary medicine.  www.aspenclub.com

Tuesday

(TBA)

Wednesday

"Pick"  Boutique Night Stroll
Take a leisurely stroll around downtown Aspen pick out some new duds at one of our participating unique boutiques!  They’ll be open late from 6:30-9:30 and then we'll have some later night events.  A portion of the evening’s sales directly benefit the Roaring Fork Gay & Lesbian Community Fund so splurge!  You’ve earned it!  See program for participating boutiques, locations and details.

Thursday

Comedy Night
He who laughs loudest laughs best or she who laughs last laughs longest or something like that…Don’t miss our annual Comedy Night at the Historic Wheeler Opera House.  We’ll be bringing in the best talent for an unforgettable gut-wrencher! Tickets will be available at www.wheeleroperahouse.com or by calling 970-920-5770.

Mine Shaft Party
Gay Ski Week presents the Aspen version of a mineshaft, which is a little more upscale than the ones found in the surrounding mountains. Dress is dirty overalls and other miner apparel - or not... A real throwback to Aspen's silver mining days.

Belly UpThe Mineshaft party will be held at Belly Up, Aspens premier nightclub and music venue. Click here to check out this great venue.

Friday

Downhill Costume Competition
This is such a popular event with our participants and locals alike.  It’s SO much fun!  Compete in the Downhill Costume Contest and try for the grand prize of $500.  Or buy a table and have a real sit down.  OR both!  You can pick up some last minute costumes on the 2nd floor of Carl’s Pharmacy on Main Street, next to the Hotel Jerome.  It’s more fun to participate than sit and watch so go to the website or Hospitality/Registration Suite to pick up an application so that you can both PLAY and WATCH!

Saturday

"WET"  Pool Party
One of our most popular events!  We promise you a night to remember (if you can the next day!)  See if you can make it all the way down the waterslide without spilling a drop of your martini!  Be sure and bring a suit!  Swoosh down the slide or grab a floatie and head down the "lazy river" drinks in hand.  They’ll be a DJ for some musical accompaniment to your time in the hot tub or boards!  See General Info section to arrange transportation.  Ride the bus—all the cool kids will!

Everyday

"Shovel"  Meet and Eat—Friendship Dinners
We’ve got some of Aspen’s finest restaurants lined up so by the end of the week you’ll have sampled some of the best meals in the country.  See program and calendar for more details and a schedule and description of the participating restaurants.

Meet on the Mountain
Meet up w/ some locals for a tour or find your companion for a day of the country’s best skiing and snowboarding terrain.  There’s a "mountain of the day" so check the calendar of events for details.

Lunch on the Mountain
We’ve designated an on mountain restaurant as the official lunch-time spot each day.

"Cruise"  Apres Ski
This daily location (TBA) will be the place to be each day as the mountain closes and we head into our evening events.

Sunday – Wednesday

"Loaded" Late Night Lounge
We’ll have our own dedicated nightspot every night Sunday-Wednesday. (TBA)
